Year 3 Week 6: Patterns of the Amazon: Our Collaborative Creation
This week, pupils across the year group have been working together on a stunning collaborative art piece, inspired by the vibrant patterns and powerful messages of Nixiwaka Yawanawá, the Indigenous Amazonian artist and activist. Using bold colours, natural shapes, and repeating tribal patterns, the children combined their individual sections to create one large artwork celebrating the beauty and spirit of the Amazon. The final piece is a breath taking display of teamwork, creativity, and respect for Indigenous culture.
In Geography, our learning has taken us deep into the rainforest. Pupils have been exploring rainforest layers, discovering the animals and plants that live there, and learning why these extraordinary ecosystems are so important to our planet. We’ve discussed deforestation, Indigenous communities, and how we can help protect the world’s rainforests.
